no GPS allowed
Sylvia and I had a serious itch to go on a road trip. So, we planned a day-long getaway to go hiking in a state park in Illinois. My spontaneous little adventurer of a friend brought along a huge map with our route circled and told me that there was no GPS allowed today. We were going to find our own way, with our paper map. This is why I love her.
After a few hours on the road, we discovered that finding our exit was harder than planned, and in a spur of the moment call, we decided to screw the exit and just keep driving.
We crossed the Mississippi River into Iowa and had a fantastic picnic. As if the adventure couldn't get any better, we watched the sunset over the river from the trunk of my car.
String lights, film photos, dancing barefoot to High School Musical songs, it literally could not get any better.
Why go all the way to Iowa just to have a picnic? Because blasting the radio for four hours, having top notch conversations, and enjoying the open road is always 100% worth it. One of the best days of the entire summer, thanks to my fantastic friend. Very thankful for you, Sylv.
