project alter ego

One lesson my friends have reminded me of this summer:

If you are beaten down, whether it be from life, another person, or even your own mind, you have to be the strongest, and fiercest version of yourself if you ever expect to get out on top.

We realized there is great power in imagining ourselves as untouchable, intimidating "alter ego" versions of ourselves. But there is even greater power in realizing that with a little hair and makeup, we can become these alter egos.

Janelle as Jhenélle Aiko
The eternal sunshine, pure white goddess, capable of choosing kindness above all else while still stepping over anyone's heart who comes in her way.

Allie as America's Sweetheart:
The tiny bombshell in pearls and heels, with a fire in her eyes brighter than her pink hair. She does what she wants, not what is expected of her.

Elizabeth as Ruth(less):
The unstoppable knockout, as powerful and badass as judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg for whom she was named. She knows exactly what she wants, and doesn't take no for an answer.

and then there's me,
Marilyn as Lady Killer:
The knife wielding danger (whether she's holding blades or not) will cut you with her eyes, is a stunner with the ladies, and doesn't need to hide her weakness from the ones she loves because she doesn't have any.

So when I have the parents come asking if we've all gone crazy, I can reassure you all, WE are still the same people. But there are parts of us that are stronger, and much fiercer than what we usually give ourselves credit for. We channeled different people today, and realized we've had it in us all along.

Congratulations, you made it to the bottom.
Confidence goes a long way, and I am so incredibly blessed to have these three girls in my life to remind me of this.
Do as you wish, and don't harm others.

Anyone who condemns you for being you is not worth your time. But the three girls next to me are worth all the time in the world.
