devil's lake

Sylvia and I are back at it again with the no-GPS-allowed road trips! It's honestly helped me so much as a driver to be more aware of my surroundings, and road signage, versus having the GPS just tell us where to go. I was nervous at first but Sylvia encouraged me, like she often does, and I'm thankful for that.

We traveled up to Devil's Lake State Park in Wisconsin and the views were absolutely gorgeous. The country roads leading to the park had me feeling some type of way, as well as the views from the hillsides, and all around the beautiful lake. We lost our breath on the hike due to the combination of exhaustion and laughter (but mostly laughter, honestly).

My favorite part of the day had to be the swim, though. After a hot hike on the trail, it was SO rewarding to cool off in the lake, surrounded by the hills and cliff sides. To top it off, the sun was setting and the water was reflecting all the warm colors and once again I lost my breath, this time just from pure awe.

It was such a beautiful, exhausting, fulfilling day. The good kind of exhaustion that makes you feel full.
