garden of the gods
Traveling! Car rides! Beautiful views! So many of my favorite things. The parents and I road tripped to southern Illinois this weekend with the goal of seeing the prettiest places we could within driving range. I often find myself wishing I lived somewhere else, somewhere closer to mountains, and more nature, because I crave that beauty. But there's beauty everywhere, and even if it's a different kind of beauty, it's out there. So we drove to it.
Also, I hiked the whole time in a dress which is a total signature Marilyn move, and I noticed a lot of people commenting on it as I walked around the trails. Mostly just curious glances, but some definitely thought I was crazy, or doing something wrong. I love wearing dresses on hikes, mostly because I love taking photos when I reach a view. But I realized when I hit the overlook and my dress started blowing beautifully in the breeze, I wear it because it makes everything feel more beautiful. Let's face it, it's pretty darn majestic. I happen to love feeling like I'm in another world where I'm some magic being who prances around in long dresses, gazing over hills. So if all it takes is wearing a dress, you better believe I'm gonna break the hiking attire rules.
It was a beautiful day, with lots of opportunity to see the beauty of the world, and lots of opportunity to prance around in my dress.
much love, Marilyn
