rocket club

You know how they tell you your friends will change throughout high school? That it won't matter because change is good and change is healthy? That you change and therefore your friends very well might too. Yes. I've changed, but these people have changed with me. Beside me, since day one. We grew up together.

Allow me to introduce us. We are the Rocket Club.

A group of friends brought closer together through the inspiration of the movie "October Sky" and the idea that we could form a group of model rocket builders. It could be a hobby, a club, a way to stay together as we started high school.

We tried building rockets, we really did, and we succeeded. But we always got distracted by laughter, bonfires, and our new lives. Our "Rocket Club meetings" turned into our version of high school parties, consisting of movie nights, Apples to Apples evolving into Cards Against Humanity, and Homecoming after parties.

Sophomore year, Junior year, and we were growing older. Some of us got boyfriends, some people joined us(we never turn new friends away) and then some left. But all the while the original friendships remained intact.

So here we are, ready to leave for the new beginnings of the rest of our lives. But not without launching our rockets. The things that made us a group in the first place. Here's to us. Time for our rockets to fly away.
