the view from 23

I live for the cinematic moments where you find yourself seeing all the little pieces of your life coming together to show you that

you are exactly where you’re supposed to be.

I knew my 23rd birthday would be special. 23 is my lucky number. It’s in my email address, hidden in so many aspects of my everyday existence to the point where I feel a connection to the number itself. It feels stable and right to me. When I first fell in love with The Hunger Games book series, my young teenage heart couldn’t wait to see it on the big screen. The moment I found out it would be released on March 23rd, ten days after my 16th birthday, boom, the affinity for 23 was born.

The anticipation was like nothing I’d ever experienced before, and once the second film was released on November 23rd, that was IT. The affinity for 23 solidified itself in my sentimental soul. The countdown to those dates shaped my teenage years unlike anything else, and I even made a short film documenting the whole journey back in 2013: click here to watch if you want ;)

I’m not particularly fond of sayings like “this is our time” or “this year will be the year” because I want to keep growing always, and not set expectations. But ya know what?

This year isn’t an expectation, it’s an intention

So here’s to MY FREAKIN’ YEAR, and every year following. I feel connected to this age and connected to myself and I’m thankful the stars have aligned this way. ✨

The weekend started out with the most beautiful surprise photoshoot with my angel friend, Shae. Check out all her AMAZING photos here!

The sunrise soothed my soul and invited me into this new year of life in the most fulfilling way. Living in New York has never felt this good. Here’s to 23, always.
